PROFESSIONAL TRAINING AND BACKGROUND

Siu Ling Chi is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Master of Science in Educational Psychology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology from Northwest Missouri State University. She also earned a diploma in Biblical Counseling from Light University. Before moving to Texas, Siu Ling served as a therapist at the Pearl Health Clinic in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where she worked with individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, ADHD, anger, and grief. Her clinical experience includes helping clients navigate emotional difficulties, relationship challenges, family conflict, and stressful life transitions. She is excited to join us at Burleson Counseling, where she will bring her unique skills to strengthen our team.

In addition to her clinical experience, Siu Ling has spent many years supporting individuals and families through marriage and parenting classes, community workshops, and church related ministry. These experiences have deepened her understanding of the challenges individuals face in balancing personal well-being, family responsibilities, and relationships. Fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English, she brings a culturally sensitive perspective to counseling and values working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. She welcomes clients of all faiths and beliefs and offers faith-based counseling for those who wish to incorporate their spirituality into the therapeutic process.

She integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT) into her clinical approach. She has also completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, along with additional professional development in parenting interventions, crisis management, and trauma-informed care.

AREAS OF SPECIALTY

Siu Ling works with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, grief and loss, anger, relationship difficulties, and challenging life transitions. She helps clients develop healthier coping strategies, improve emotional regulation, strengthen communication, and navigate personal and family challenges. Her compassionate approach encourages clients to gain a deeper understanding of themselves, build resilience, and experience meaningful growth in their everyday lives.

Siu Ling has a particular passion for helping individuals navigate complex family relationships, especially older parents seeking to strengthen their connections with their adult children. She understands how differences in communication styles, expectations, and personal values can contribute to misunderstandings, emotional distance, and unresolved conflict. With a special interest in intergenerational trauma, she helps clients explore how family experiences, cultural traditions, and patterns passed down through generations may influence their emotional well-being and relationships.

Siu Ling believes that every individual should feel heard, valued, and understood. She strives to create a warm, supportive environment where clients can openly explore their struggles, develop healthier perspectives, and work toward positive change. Whether someone is facing emotional distress, navigating difficult relationships, or seeking greater peace and fulfillment, Siu Ling considers it a privilege to journey with individuals toward healing and personal growth.
