PROFESSIONAL TRAINING AND BACKGROUND

Sophia is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate with a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas Christian University. She earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in psychology and philosophy from Southern Methodist University. Prior to private practice, Sophia gained clinical experience providing counseling services to children, adolescents, and families in community settings including Fort Worth Independent School District and The Parenting Center in Fort Worth.  We are excited to welcome Sophia to our team, where she brings current clinical training and a fresh perspective informed by today's mental health education.

During her graduate training, Sophia provided Child-Centered Play Therapy, expressive arts, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy while serving children and families experiencing a variety of emotional, behavioral, and relational concerns. Her clinical experience includes working with children and families navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, family conflict, domestic violence, grief, school-related concerns, and significant life transitions. She has collaborated with parents, educators, and community organizations to support each child's emotional well-being and development while helping families build stronger relationships and healthier patterns of communication. She is passionate about helping children communicate and process difficult emotions through developmentally appropriate approaches while creating a safe and supportive environment where they can grow, heal, and thrive.

AREAS OF FOCUS

Sophia provides Child Centered Play Therapy for children, as well as traditional talk therapy for adolescents and adults. She sees clients seeking support for a variety of mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, current or past childhood trauma, and relational issues. Sophia’s counseling practice is grounded in the belief that every person has inherent worth. She strives to express this by demonstrating genuineness and empathy to every client.

Additionally, she believes therapeutic change happens in the context of a supportive and collaborative relationship. Sophia values evidenced-based practices and utilizes an integrative approach to provide counseling tailored to individuals and their personal goals for improving their mental health.

Outside of work, Sophia enjoys cozy hobbies, Bible study, and trying a variety of coffee shops. She enjoys spending time with her husband, playing with her two dogs, and hosting friends in her home
